The Fog Lamp Page

This page chronicles my experiences in fitting a High Intensity Rear lamp to my motorcycle. My Bike is a 1984 BMW R100RS. Needless to say, the details of fitting are specific to that make and model but the electrical details can be adapted to virtually any other vehicle.

On the face of it, the Fog Lamp circuit is very simple, simply a switch, a lamp, a relay and sundry wires but I decided to go a bit further. One of the nightmares of night time riding is the fear that a rear lamp, a brake lamp or a Fog lamp might fail without the rider knowing. Most vehicle manufacturers make no attempt to address this problem, yet there are simple ways to do so. I have already fitted failure warning telltales for rear and brake lamps but I decided on a different approach for the Fog Lamp.
